Questions?

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

You don’t need a doctor’s referral to get speech-language services for your child. If you have concerns you can reach out to a Speech-Language Pathologist at any time to discuss these concerns.

Where do sessions take place?

Typically in your home. This is the most familiar and natural environment for your child, and their comfort is paramount to a successful therapy program.

Can I attend my child’s session?

Absolutely. We very much recommend it.

How long will an assessment take and what can I expect in the session?

The assessment can take one or two sessions depending on the needs of your child. It will include unstructured time to play to determine their communication skills. It will also give us the opportunity to gather information from you about your child’s communication. A formal test will determine strengths and areas of need.

How long will a typical therapy session take and what can I expect to happen during one?

Therapy sessions are typically scheduled for 45 minutes of direct therapy. This will include a discussion with you regarding strategies you can try outside of therapy. The therapy sessions are play-based where your child will be working on individualized goals while playing and having fun.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

There are many factors to consider so it is difficult to know. We want to see that your child is responding to therapy and the strategies are helping in short order. Practicing the strategies outside of therapy also impacts success. Staying in constant communication about your child’s progress is a priority in successful therapy.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not direct bill insurance companies. A receipt for services is provided for you to submit to your insurance company. It is recommended that you contact them to confirm you have insurance available for ‘speech therapy’.
