ABOUT

Chantal Aussant-Huhn

MSc, R.SLP, SLP (C)

Owner, Registered and Certified Speech-Language Pathologist

Chantal Aussant-Huhn has been a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist for over 25 years. She has extensive experience treating children with language delays, speech sound difficulties, motor speech disorders, language difficulties and social communication differences.

She has worked with families, preschools, daycares and has partnered with psychologists, educators and other therapists.

Her passion is helping young children find the power of communication, and the satisfaction she gets from watching them progress cannot be quantified. Experience has taught her that the best results come when learning is comfortable, fun and involves the families and caregivers to create a sphere of success.

In her private hours, Chantal loves spending time with her family, walking her dogs and curling up with a good book. (If you have any recommendations, she’s all ears!)

“I feel very fortunate to have chosen a career where this passion continues each day. I love what I do!”

TESTIMONIALS

Chantal has played a pivotal role in my son’s speech development. She has created such a warm, encouraging environment that my son has thrived in. Each session, Chantal has new games and activities to play to practice speech sounds; my son walks into each session intrigued as to what fun Chantal has in store for him that day. Chantal keeps him engaged throughout the session, celebrates his wins, and provides ongoing and immediate feedback. I appreciate the session note she emails at the end of each session that includes a summary of what was focused on, and what we can do at home to practice. I am so grateful for her expertise, care and support!

Our family had the blessing, as well as the pleasure of working with Chantal, weekly for nearly 6 consecutive years as all 3 of my kiddos required speech therapy, the first was mild/moderate and the other 2 completely non-verbal. All 3 are now very much verbal and still applying her taught techniques to this day, when necessary. It is a unique (to the individual) process where she introduces play to quickly build that bond between the child and herself, and then the magic begins. Children are incredibly drawn to her on various levels and quite frankly “love her,” therefore, producing spectacular results in their speech development.

Chantal offers an exquisite dedication and passion for her work, bringing forth a vast wealth of knowledge, experience, professionalism, flexibility, and structure full of guiding support enabling her little friends to achieve their set goals, all while having loads of fun! I would strongly recommend Chantal to any family requiring speech services and can assure you, she will never disappoint and will always help in evolving the gift of your child’s voice.

We have been using Chantal for private speech pathology for over a year. Our son was diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech and has gone from having a dozen intelligible words to learning up to 6 new intelligible words in a single session.  We are blown away!  He looks forward to his weekly “play dates” with Miss Chantal. The support she provides to our entire family is paramount to our son’s success. We are so thankful to have her in our lives.

It is difficult to find words to express the level of appreciation we have for Chantal and the work and commitment she gave our son.  Our son was 2.5 and completely non-verbal due to Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Recognizing the importance of early intervention, Chantal worked in person one on one, with our son on a weekly to bi-weekly basis before, during and after the pandemic. Chantal made therapy fun and exciting using different toys and games to keep our son engaged; he would even wait by the door in anticipation of Chantal's arrival for each session!

By the time our son reached age 5, just before kindergarten, he was on par with his peers!  Recently, during a parent teacher conference with his grade one teacher, we were told that if he was not coded, his teacher would have no idea that he has apraxia.  We owe so much to Chantal for working to get our son on track and we can't thank her enough
